New legislation recently passed in the NZ Parliament is due to be enacted on 4th April 2016. This will dramatically impact Health & Safety practices in New Zealand. Greater responsibilities and liabilities will fall upon Owners and Directors of businesses across all industries large and small.

The new legislation places a greater requirement on managers and executives to be aware of employees and the workplace environment.  They are charged to provide a "Duty of Care" and must undertake due diligence and operate "Best Practice" that will come under the scrutiny of the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE) and the new Crown entity WorkSafe New Zealand (formerly the Department of Labour).
